L-CARNITINE

L-Carnitine is essential for the production of energy from fatty acids by virtue of its role in the transport of fatty acids into the mitochondria for energy production (in a process called beta oxidation).

L-Carnitine enhances the rate of ATP production (also called oxidative phosphorylation), which is a key step in energy production throughout the body.

By enhancing fatty acid metabolism via beta oxidation, carnitine can help maintain healthy triglyceride levels already within a normal range.* Major body tissues, particularly the heart and skeletal muscles, depend on fatty acid oxidation as their primary source of energy. L-Carnitine promotes efficient heart function.

L-Carnitine is produced in the body from the essential amino acids lysine and methionine. One gram of L-Carnitine is equivalent to the amount of carnitine found in 3.5 lbs of steak.
